Payroll is the one deadline that cannot slip, and it usually reaches you as a file to approve on the day the money leaves. This course sets out what your finance team needs before each salary run, and what you are actually signing off.
Seven lessons. The salary run, seen from the side that signs it.
Payroll arrives finished. A file, a total, and a question asking whether it can go. Everything that could have been checked was decided in the days before it, in changes that were mentioned in passing and never written down anywhere your accountants can see.
This course walks the week before payday. Where each change has to be recorded, what the totals should look like against last month, which line to open when a number surprises you, and how joiners and leavers get handled without a rushed message on the day.
Founders who sign off the payroll: on a phone, usually while travelling.
Operations leads: collecting contract changes from three managers before the cut off.
Companies that have just started hiring: where payroll went from one person to a team within a year.
The course assumes your payroll is run by somebody else and that your job is to check it and release it.
This course is part of the academy's invite-only offering.
Access to this course is managed by the academy owner. Reach out to them if you would like to join.
